Roulette is a form of gambling named for the French word meaning little wheel that was probably derived from the Italian game Biribi. Players can put a wager on one number or any number in addition to the colors black and red. There is also the option of placing bets on whether the numbers are odd or even or (19-36), or low (18-18). The player spins the wheel one direction. The ball is spun in the reverse direction. The ball stops spinning and passes through a series of deflectors, before coming down onto the wheel. It will then fall into one of the three-seven (single zero, French or European style Roulette), or thirty-eight (3,0, American style Roulette) Colored or number-coded pockets. The winnings are then transferred to any player who placed a successful bet.
